May 21, 2025 | Professor Dr. Hanna Kokko, a theoretical evolutionary biologist and Humboldt Professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), has been elected as a new member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. Election to the Academy is considered one of the highest scientific honors in Germany. Kokko will join the Organismic and Evolutionary Biology Section in Class II: Life Sciences. The German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina – National Academy of Sciences is the largest scientific academy in Germany with around 1,700 members from more than 30 countries, and it is also a supranational association.
