05/03/2024 | Advancing the application and development of new DNA synthesis technologies to pave the way for the production of entire artificial genomes – this is the goal of a new interdisciplinary center that is being established at Heidelberg University, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the FB10 of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU). The Carl Zeiss Foundation (CZS) is funding the establishment of the Center for Synthetic Genomics with a total of twelve million euros over a period of six years. The aim is to initiate new developments in synthetic genomics through basic research and technology development using artificial intelligence methods.
